Over the past 20 years, I have built extensive teaching experience in decision science and behavioral economics. I am driven by the opportunity to help individuals and organizations become better decision makers\u2014because better decisions have a profound impact on people\u2019s lives and organizational outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My research shows that high-quality, proactive decision-making can be systematically trained. Participants in my courses are not only more satisfied with their decisions but also report higher overall life satisfaction. Increasingly, this includes the ability to translate data into well-founded decisions. A central element of my work is the web-based decision support tool Entscheidungsnavi<\/em>, which I co-developed and which is used in both teaching and research to structure and analyze complex decisions in a data-driven way. My free MOOC \u201cProactively Making Smart Decisions\u201d<\/em> is among the top-rated courses on the iMooX platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I offer courses, workshops, and keynotes for a broad range of audiences\u2014from school students and university students (Bachelor\u2019s, Master\u2019s, and PhD) to managers, consultants, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and the general public. My teaching is tailored to the specific decision contexts and needs of each group, particularly in supply chain management and other data-intensive value creation systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n School students often face one of their first major life decisions: what to do after graduation. While they are typically provided with extensive information about available options, they are rarely taught how to make such decisions in a structured way. Many are not even aware of their own relevant objectives. My work addresses this gap by systematically developing decision competence at an early stage (see also KLUGentscheiden.org).<\/p>\n\n\n\n In organizations and consulting contexts, different challenges arise: How can common decision-making biases such as overconfidence or anchoring be reduced? How can simple, preference-based decision models be developed and applied in practice? And how can data be used effectively to support robust and transparent decisions\u2014particularly in complex value chains and supply chain systems?<\/p>\n\n\n\n High-quality teaching requires a close integration of research, practical experience, and didactics.
